All three are single stack “micro compact” pistols. Great little gun. Kahr deserves a lot of credit for producing an affordable, quality, made-in-USA carry piece without cutting down on much besides the cosmetics. I love my MK9. April 1. 8, 2. 01. PMI have a P2. 38, and love it. It's the softest shooting . I've shot and has a sweet trigger, something that seems to be harder to get in mouse guns then you would think. However, I shoot 1. If a safety or hammer back bother you then a P 2. Lightning. Man. April 1. PMHave them both, shoot them both well enough, but carry the Kahr. Just like the simple operation of the Kahr, just pull the trigger. LMkokapelli. April 1. PMI would get the Kahr if you feel more comfortable with a double action only trigger, but when it comes to shoot ability IMO there just nothing out there in a pocket pistol that shoots like the P2. April 1. 8, 2. 01. PMI have more faith in the reliability of the Kahr action.. April 1. 9, 2. 01. AMCan't say I've shot the Kahr, but my Sig P2. I HAVE shot (S& W Bodyguard, Kel. Tec P3. AT). It's accurate, recoil is minimal for such a small gun, and it's easy to shoot well thanks to the generous sights and SAO trigger. Salty. 1April 1. 9, 2. AMIf your comfortable carrying cocked and locked then get the 2. If not the Kahr is a fine choice and the double action trigger is not that bad, not great but not bad..... Sig 9. 38's just a bit larger than the 2. Kahr has the CM9 and CW9 which are smaller and affordable...... April 1. 9, 2. 01. PMI have both pistols and I also agree the Sig 2. However, mine has spells where it won't feed much of anything followed by long periods of perfect service. I find the Kahr to be as accurate as the 2. It has slightly more recoil but much less than most 3. I tend to carry my Kahr more than the Sig only because of my rare but genuine problems. I love the safety on the Sig. Most people don't like safeties but the Sig does have a 1. The safety could keep you from accidently ventilating your thigh or worse. Get the Sig if you think the new ones are bug free. Otherwise, you'll also love the Kahr. It's trigger is the same superb trigger on all Kahrs. Coop. 45. April 2. PMThe Sig 2. 38 comes with good sights and the trigger is super nice. The Kahr has okay sights. I went with XS Big Dots as replacements. I like them both. Aiko. 49. 2April 2. PMI owned both, from my personal experience there is no comparison. I initially bought the Kahr and was unable to get through a magazine without a feed or eject issue (tried 4 HP and 3 FMJ ammo). Kahr CS said to put the several hundred rounds through it for break in- no change. My LGS was very kind and gave me full credit which I used towards the Sig. The P2. 38 gave me no issues at all other than it did not like Gold Dots. Much, much more comfortable gun to shoot. The Kahr was pretty snappy. Maybe I just had a lemon Kahr, many people are happy with theirs. Commander. April 2. AMI have them both. My Kahr has been back for service two times. I keep getting light primer strikes. They replaced the barrel the 1st time and sent it back. Nothing changed. I have consigned myself to the fact that I will have to use ammo with Federal primers. Not a big deal since I reload. The Sig is not as accurate but then I can shoot lead in the Sig. I'm waiting for the 9. Robbins. 29. 0April 2. AMNever handled the kahr, but the sig p. Very light. Comes stardard with nite sights. Forum. Surfer. April 2. PMI'm going through the same process. I'll end up getting the ruger lcp. Here's my opinions: Kahr p. Loved my kahr cw. Accurate and reliable. Unfortunately it is heavy and a 9mm weighs almost the same. Sig p. 23. 8 - great shooter. Probably my favorite pocket 3. I had to pick one to shoot regularly. Pricey and heavy for a pocket pistol. For that much weight, I'd rather carry an airweight snubbie. Of course my needs are unique. I refuse to wear a smart carry, I don't care for belly bands, I don't like off body carry (fanny pack) and I just want something I can carry in the waistband of my gym shorts should I ever need it. It would only be during emergencies when I need to leave the gym or anywhere else I may be wearing gym/swim trunks without changing clothes. Tied or not, a glock 2. I feel comfortable with. We must be reading two different threads! You continue to knock the P2. P2. 38 owners in this and most other threads here. You claim the Kahr is a better design even though there a number of posts right here in this thread about problems with the little Kahr! As for better choices, that's not what this thread is about. The title of this thread is "Kahr p. Sig p. 23. 8" not what better choices there are. And last but not least, I don't care what your friends title is because I've been a member of the gun culture for enough years to have learned a long time ago to take so called experts opinions with a grain of salt. I much prefer the opinions of actual owners which in the case of the P2. By the way, I'm in no way knocking the Kahr 3. I even recommended it if you want a DAO trigger in a pocket pistol. I have two Kahr pistols and am very happy with them, but when it comes to the two 3. P2. 38 is just a better shooting pistol. April 2. 3, 2. 01. PMPlease don't take my posts as a personal critique of your choice of the 2. I simply offer an opposing view/experience. Did you even follow the link to the Grayguns site? April 2. 3, 2. 01. What was the subject of this thread? April 2. 3, 2. 01. PMAs much as I love my Kahr PM9 I have to admit after reading from numerous owners of the Kahr 3. Kahr forum having many issues of reliability I would be very hesitant to buy one(especially at their price) even though I much prefer it's design over the Sig. Having owned a Colt Mustang I want zero to do with a hammer cocked micro . Ymmv on this opinion. So after owning an even less desirable DB3. I chose the Ruger LCP as the other carry type 3. CCW- VERY thin- VERY light- Inexpensive. I shot one the other day and though a bit "snappy" I would have no problem shooting 1. I also plan to put Hogue grips on it as well. I like the 4. 0 cal.... I have been a SIG DA/SA guy, so a striker fired pistol is new for me. So my question is this.... For those that have bought a KAHR CW or P series in THE LAST 3 YEARS ONLYWhat sort of reliability have you seen personally (not internet rereads from a few years back)? Do you trust it for CCW? After first 2. 00 rds, how many F- T- F, F- T- E's have you had?(I am asking this question, because I have heard that Kahr has done some significant improvements on quality the last few years)Thanks in advance for your opinions. PMI've been shooting a CW9 for a couple of years now and it has been flawless since going through the break- in period.,,read the manual and follow it's recommendations. Mine has replaced my S& W 6. Prior to deciding on the CW9, I shot several examples in different calibers. Here are a couple of observations from my experience: 1. CW series has been more reliable in 9mm and . ACP than in . 4. 02. The slide stop lever is very sharp, if I owned one in . I'd be sure to beveled it. MIM part. Ringer. March 5, 2. 01. 1, 1. PMI've had a PM9 for a number of years, probably doesn't meet your last 3 years criteria, but it is still very reliable. Have about 3. 00 rounds through a P9. Neither ever had the malfunctions you mention during or after break in. The PM9 initially had issues with premature slide lock which was quickly remedied with adjustment to the slide stop. The PM9 also had the barrel recall. I trust the PM9 completely but need to get to the 5. P9. Don't expect issues just a prerequisite before I'll carry any gun. I use them (or will) as alternates to my G1. I need something easier to conceal. March 5, 2. 01. 1, 1. PMMy wife got me a Kahr CW9 for Valentines day. I have about 4. 00 round through it now. I have not had any issues. One that come with it the other that I picked up from CDNN. It shoots well for me. I have to think about the DAO a little bit but for a defense handgun I think it is fine. It is long but consistent and clean. I am impressed with the Budget line Kahr I am no longer looking at the PM9 but am now looking at the CM9. March 5, 2. 01. 1, 0. PMI have had 4 Kahrs over the years. Two K4. 0's, one CW9, one CW4. All excellent weapons, zero malf's. Owning another is not out of the question for me. Just really didn't shoot them as much as some of my other guns because of the trigger pull. That said, if you don't put the time into getting intimate with the trigger pull you just don't shoot them as well as other guns, or at least I didn't. Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT bashing Kahr by no means. They build EXCELLENT weapons. I do have to ask myself if they couldn't change that LONG trigger pull somehow. But I think that trigger pull is somewhat of a safety feature for Kahr. BTW all 4 of these were ccw guns for me. So I did trust my life with them. I just got to where I didn't trust how well I shot them. YMMV. I think if I or anyone for that matter can get use that trigger that reliability of the weapon is not a question. March 5, 2. 01. 1, 0. PMWell I did not place my vote because my new Kahr PM9 has as of yesterday had exactly 2. The only issues I have had was when I used the supplied extra 7 round extended magazine and in the guns first 2. I had one fail to feed using WWB 1. Mag- Tech 1. 15 gr. This failure to feed with the Mag- Tech ammo occured somewhere around round #5. And again with the supplied extra 7 round magazine. The pistol has fed, fired, and ejected everything without issue with the standard six round magazine. I gave the pistol a very good cleaning this morning,as well as both magazines,as this was the first cleaning it has had since that 2. I gave it before starting this series of various ammo tests of fmj and will soon be test firing hollow point ammo very soon to see what appears to work best in it. My guess is anything. These are very good pistols and damn well should be for the price you pay for them. I certainly like my PM9. March 5, 2. 01. 1, 0. PMI loved my PM9. It took about 4. 00 rounds to achieve reliability. Then I made the mistake of sending it to Cylinder & Slide for some custom work, the KA8. Package 2, a cool $6. It has never worked reliability sinse. When returned, I took it to the range and with each shot the sight alignment seemed to deteriorate. After close examination I notice the new tritium front sight wasn’t seated. After fixing that, I continued test firing and found that one in 1. Examining and comparing spent rounds with those that failed to fire, I noticed that the firing pin occasionally strikes off center with a lighter indent strike. Cylinder & Slide said to send it back. However, UPS refused to ship without an ffl and Cylinder & Slide refused to give me one saying it wasn’t necessary. I got them on the phone at the UPS office and they got into an argument with UPS over need for an ffl. Frustrated, I’ve put the PM9 in storage. There it sits until I decide what to do with it. I don’t trust my life with it. Ala Dan. March 5, 2. PMOption #1 for me~! Dleadcounsel. March 5, 2. PMNot my guns so I didn't vote. But years ago my buddy bought two different Kahr . BOTH had issues with FTF and FTE. Both were returned for repairs, continued to have issues and he later sold or traded them. YMMV. Zerodefect. March 5, 2. 01. 1, 0. My p. 38. 0 that I bought a few days ago had no issues with the first 5. Remington UMC. I haven't been able to put more through it. March 5, 2. 01. 1, 0. PMI have a PM- 9 that barely meets your three year time frame and a K- 9 that I have had since they were first marketed. I have never had any FTF or FTE with either, even during the recommended break in period. The PM- 9 came with nite sites and I returned the K- 9 slide to Kahr for installation of nite sites. I carry both frequently and have no qualms about them being my first line of defense. I shoot both 1. 15 and 1. Brown Bear 1. 15 gr. NEVER any failures. A K- 4. 0 is next on my "need to have" list. I had severe problems with it initially, but they replaced the barrel (a major part) and the recoil spring - after which it was reliable - not the whole gun. My other Kahr, a steel framed E9 (a discontinued, "economy" version of the K9), never had any functioning problems. March 5, 2. 01. 1, 0. PMMy CW9 has been flawless through about 7. My CW4. 5 had 2 or 3 fte in the first 2. Hank. BMarch 5, 2. PMI had a Kahr P9. Horrid little piece of trash - just about everything that could go wrong, DID go wrong: Failure to go into battery. Failure of slide to lock back. Premature slide lock. Trigger pin walked out. Failure of trigger to actuate striker. It went back to Kahr a couple of times - the battery & slide problems were addressed, but whatever they did to fix the trigger/striker actuation issue wouldn't stay fixed, so they replaced the pistol. Good company - I think they really tried - but it was still a bad product.) Being of the "once burned, twice shy" persuasion when it comes to troublesome guns, I traded the replacement - unfired - for a G2. The Glock isn't as neat a package, but it has the virtue of actually working. March 5, 2. 01. 1, 1. PMI have a PM 9 Black Diamond and the MK 9. Great Guns). The only thing I would say is that the MK 9 is a little to heavy to carry in your pocket. And (The MK) mine does not like the 1. It prefers the 1. I was going to trade it in because the 1.
